Sunday 10th August – Askern 10mile road race.

Tom Potter reports in:

This felt like a 10mile road swim. The weather was horrendous and rained hard from start to finish. Mark Hall and I were the only Otley AC runners at todays event.

Pleased to report that I finished in 1:05:22 (over 3mins quicker than last year!).

Mark comments, my race it was ok. It was a bit on the damp side but in a strange way it was enjoyable as it was not cold.

I was 9th (faded in the 2nd 5 mile section) 58.57. Winner was Will Beauchamp from Sheffield Runners 54.12, Katie Parry (Leeds City) was first female in 33rd overall with a time of 62:23. As stated, Tom Potter finished in 54th place in 65:22.

Results.

  1. I wish I could fade like you did Mark, 58: 37 it is a superb performance that very few runner can achieve . Also Tom P. had a strong running in 65:22 that is good indeed. Well done you two.

  2. Not at all, I have done Askern 10 mile a couple of times in the past ,and I know that you did a strong performance , especially with such weather condition, you are a powerhouse Mark.
