Eccup 10 Sunday 7th July.

Eccup 10 Sunday 7th July.

Report by Howard Jeffrey Today we were lucky with the weather which was an almost perfect 14 degrees with little wind. Unless of course anyone was still out on the course in the deluge of biblical proportions at around 1 h 55 min into the race. This course is on tarmac road and a good made up path around the Eccup reservoir. My recollections of previous years are of the heat beating back up off the tarmac and the frequent,…

Denis Rankin Round- Saturday 15th June

Race report Tom Lynch The Denis Rankin round is the Northern Irish equivalent of the Bob Graham/Paddy Buckley/Ramsay Round, and is a circuit of the highest hills and mountains in the Mourne Mountains over 400m. The round is around 90km long, with around 6600m climbing so it both shorter than some of the other rounds, but also with less climbing than all of them. Wharfedale Three Peaks, Saturday 29th June

Wharfedale Three Peaks, Saturday 29th June

Race report Matt Podd This low-key race is organised by the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue, and there are two shorter options, However I opted for the full monty. I had done it before on a very hot day five years ago, recently it has been shortened from 22 to 17 miles, as the marshals were having too long a day out. We missed going along the ridge to Yockenthwaite and the lovely path at the head of the valley to…

Harrogate 10K, Sunday 30th June

Harrogate 10K, Sunday 30th June

Report by Howard Jeffrey In days of yore, I used to relish doing the Harrogate town centre 10K which was usually on a blistering hot day in early July. Recently, I started to feel like my old self (literally) whilst training and I looked at the calendar to see what races were pending. ‘Harmony’ Harrogate 10k came up and was listed as a challenging, rural event. I saw there looked to be a reasonable number of entries likely to be…

It’s a 5 mile/8 k route along the riverside from the Cavendish Pavilion, with some minor undulations as you leave the river bank on the way out. It was a beautiful evening – warm and sunny with plenty of midges about! Nearly 800 people ran on the night, with others submitting a virtual run. We received a beautiful stained glass medal to…
