25th-30th March – World Masters Indoor Athletics Championships
Caroline Marler shared gold and a world record at the World Masters Indoor Athletics Championships, in Budapest, at the Ferenc Puskas National Stadium Complex.
She was a member of the British team that won the 4 x 200m relay for women aged 60-64 years in a new record time of 2:05.79 secs, over five seconds faster than the previous mark.
Australia came second in the race, with Germany taking the bronze.
Caroline also won bronze medals in the 400m and 800m individual events.
The Championships are believed to be the largest athletic competition ever held in Eastern Europe, with over 3,800 registered athletes registered; this compares with 2,200 at the recent London Olympics.
