Saturday 23rd February – English National Cross-Country Championships
The Saucony English National Cross-Country Championships took place at Herrington Park, Sunderland.
In the men’s race of 12km won by Keith Gerrard (Newham & Essex Beagles) in 41.21, for OAC Andrew Robertshaw finished 273rd (50.53) and Jon Greenwell 347th (52.29).
Andrew reports: a mud bath of a course, I don’t think I’ve ever finished a race covered with more mud head to toe. I’ve looked back at the results from the last time the race was held on the same course & on exactly the same course the winner of 2007 finished in a time of 37.31.
Results here and Senior mens video and other races here.
News report also from Sky/TyneandWear.

Great results boys with well over 1000 finishers
The heavy going definitely made it a day for the ‘stayers’, with at least ankle deep mud for all or the 7 miles, I’m sure you would have loved it Mick.

Andrew I have just seen the video and I have never seen so much muddy terrain in my life, in Sunderland it was much worse then the cross country in Huddersfield where I was running in a sea of mud, Andrew you deserve a medal just because you ran and finish the race in astonishing condition, and Jon as well deserve one.
Well done Andrew, great running.
up the “Black and Whites”
