Saturday 21st September – Great Whernside Fell Race

Saturday 21st September – Great Whernside Fell Race

Report from Andrew Robertshaw, 4 miles & 1500ft ascent Not counting tail running our Harrogate League handicap this was my first race of the year. Starting from Kettlewell it’s a classic fell race route straight up and down to the summit trig point. Sunny and warm at the start, cooler and misty on the top. A strong head wind made for slow going on the climb, but in theory helped on the descent, but it never feels like that does…

Junior also from the host club, Georgia Twist was first female. Tom Paget was the first home in the…

Yorkshireman Half (that’s not a half as it’s 15 miles), Sunday 15th September

Yorkshireman Half (that’s not a half as it’s 15 miles), Sunday 15th September

Race report Hannah Lupton You know when you have a great idea for a day out and persuade your mates to join you, but then as the date gets nearer you realise it was stupid idea, completely idiotic! Well, that’s what happened with this years Yorkshireman entry. Whilst training for Leeds Marathon and Endure 24 I obviously must have had a couple of weeks where I felt fit and strong and decided this year was the year to enter Yorkshireman…

Sunday 15th September – Wetherby 10k

Report from Maddy Delucchi Wetherby 10k. Rained all the way around. Happy with result. Better than last year. 59:27 (chip 59:10). As usual I was second in my age cat. Good to see Tom H finish but shame Philip Robinson suffered calf injury and had to pull out. Karen Robinson got past me at about 8km. Well done to Ed Lines and Mick Jeffrey. Apologies if I’ve missed anyone. Excellent organisation by Wetherby AC and good crowd support especially in…

Malham Trail Half Marathon Saturday 14th September.

Malham Trail Half Marathon Saturday 14th September.

Race report Matt Podd This race is organised by Due North and part of their 3 race Trail Half Marathon series. I’ve done a few of them and they are great – if you like that sort of thing and I do. I did this race last year and suffered in the heat. This year conditions were cooler and ideal for running, dry underfoot. I’m doing the Marathon Eryri in October, and this race was part of my training. I…

Ilkley Incline. Wednesday 4th September.

Ilkley Incline. Wednesday 4th September.

Race report Matt Podd This is one of the last evening races of the year, and I’ve done it a good few times before. It’s an uphill Mile on the track to Keighley Gate. Starts with track and is then gravely track. My slowest ever time, but I did manage to beat Debbie Bland and Antonio! A bigger than normal field, but a low turnout of OAC. The lad who won broke the long-standing course record by 9 seconds. 49….

Belvoir Castle Olympic Aquathlon, Sun 1st Sept

Belvoir Castle Olympic Aquathlon, Sun 1st Sept

Report from Howard Jeffrey My last report was on the Mallory Park Sprint Triathlon which was a qualifier for next year’s European age group championships in Istanbul. Got official notice that I had qualified although I was pretty sure I had, so pleased with that. There are no qualification races, as such, for the European and World Aquathlon championships, both in different parts of Spain next year. You have to have done one in the UK in a reasonable time. Easier…
