Couch to 5k

If you are a complete beginner to running or want to get back to it after some time off then the Otley Athletics Club couch to 5k programme is perfect for you.

Over the past few years we’ve supported lots of people to become more active. Whether your aim is to reduce stress, improve your mood, run a 5k or meet new people, our qualified leaders and volunteers will take you from couch to 5k in 10 weeks.

The programme starts by running for a 1 minute and walking for 2 minutes for 8 reps and builds up slowly to running 5k. You’ll find it a supportive, inclusive and friendly group, with no pressure. The aim is to give you the confidence to continue running, whether that’s to join parkrun, our other club groups or to run independently.

There are two new programmes each year, starting at the beginning of January,  and September. We meet at Otley Cricket Club, Cross Green, Otley on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.15 for a 6.30pm start.

The cost is £10, which will be deducted from your annual Otley AC membership (£35) if you decide to join.

If you join the club you’ll be able to continue your journey in the same supportive, friendly group and build up to running a 10k. Then who knows where your running journey will take you!
