Race report Matt Podd

After two cancellations due to winter weather it was third time lucky for this race run for Sue Ryder on Wednesday 29th January. Six OAC gathered at Bingley St Ives for the 7.30 start, two for the 10k, two lap version and the rest of us for the 5k. This is a trail race run in the dark on a well marked and marshalled course, that a number of us have done before.

We all set off together on an undulating course with two hills and a long descent. It was great to see the trail of head torches in the dark and the lights of the surrounding towns. Just before the finish the 10k runners peeled off for another lap. Everyone enjoyed it and we all got the lovely medal. These races are very inclusive and attract a broad spectrum of runners so it’s easier to get a good place in the field.
