Blubberhouses 25 Sunday 24th March

Race report Alison Bowers

A great day out :-

  • fantastic weather – cool and mostly wall to wall sunshine despite the gales and rain sandwiched around that day
  • stunning route and views taking in Norwood, Swinsty, Fewston, Rocking Hall, Bolton Abbey, Beamsley Beacon, Round Hill, Timble Ings and back to Norwood so not a flat
  • actually only 23 miles
  • encountering various kinds and depths of mud
  • great refreshments – fruits cake, oranges, quiche and a grand stew at the finish
  • £8 entry fee
  • lots of familiar faces from Otley AC

  1. Blubberhouses 25 has got the same miles of the Rombalds Stride and they are two very local races , very popular with our club members , in the past I have done the Rombalds several times and for some reason the Blubberhouses only once not officially together with Ilkley H. Amanda P. and I enjoyed the route so much that I would have liked to do the race again but nowadays it is just too far for me . Well done all of you .
