Report from Colin Best
After a bit of a gap returned to fell running to complete a trio of races in the Calder valley.
The weather was cold and damp but not as bad as expected. Mud and wet feet in November is just normal. Thinking the start time was 1.30 not 1pm I warmed up by “sprinting” to get registered in time and was joined at the start by Don and his trusty mate Baz. Don was disappointed that there was no Antonio.
After a long steady climb the route then undulates along to Studley Pike before descending steeply. At this point I was past by Baz who took descent in his stride. Once back on the steep ascent I passed him again and that gave me the urgency to push on to the finish just inside 80 mins

The intended plan for my weekend was to do the ”Shepherds Skyline on Saturday with friends and rivals waiting for me and ”Cop Hill ” on a Sunday , but soon after the Thursday run I started coughing and I felt all wobbly and empty , at home I realize that I was shivering and I had quite a temperature , so my weekend was in my bed for three days and I was in a poor state with influenza . Fell runner Colin B. had a fantastic performance , Colin crossed the finish line in a fast 79.59 . My friend Donald B. had a courageous run , he finished in a super time of 87.17 .
