Sunday 15th October – Weeton Handicap

Sunday 15th October – Weeton Handicap

A cold, sunny morning greeted the runners for race 10 of the Eric Smith Trophy, a 5 mile route round Weeton village. A welcome return to better form for Andy Webster saw him take the win, just short of a minute clear of Paul Tranter, with Pam a further minute behind Paul. Eddy Lines recorded the fastest time of the day, with Chris Brunold the fastest women’s time when she did the virtual option on Thursday.

In the Eric Smith Trophy table Ceit has a 21.5 lead over Chris Brunold and Bob Payne 4 points behind Chris. See the full table here. All of the top three have taken part in every race so far. They all have a couple of low scores, so more opportunity to increase their totals in the last couple of races.

November’s handicap is the 2 lap Weston Lane, this was one of the lockdown handicaps in 2020, prior to that it was used every year from 1991 to 2001, so in this 40th year of the club it’s time to give it another go on Thursday 23rd November, see route details on the handicap page here.

  1. Congratulations to Andrew W. for winning the Weeton race with a superb performance , Andy crossed the finish line in a super time of 39.06 . Leader of the Eric S. Trophy Ceit K. had a great run , she finished with an impressive 45.30 . Fell runner Colin B. had a good run too , he finished with a solid 48.08 . I was sorry to miss Weeton but it was clashing in the same morning with ”Within Skyline” . Well done to everyone .
