No changes in the top 2 since the last update. A late charge from Simon Quin with 2 counting races at the last West Yorkshire Cross Country league race and the Chevin Chase saw him moving up to third. The first race of the 2022 Eric Smith Trophy is the John Cowan Harewood Handicap. This is a 4.2 mile tarmac (approx. 25%) and trail, see a route map below, the route will be marked so no worries about finding your way. Sunday 19th December – Eric Smith Trophy 2021 Final Race – Ken Dixon Christmas Handicap

As the traditional route is out of action due to the work on Swinsty dam, the 33rd Ken Dixon Christmas handicap will use 2020 route, see map below. Saturday 20th November – Race 11 Eric Smith Trophy – Weeton Handicap

Race 11 of the Eric Smith handicap trophy is the Weeton Handicap, which starts under the Railway bridge, Woodgate Lane, Weeton, see map below, note the 2 laps of Gallowgate lane. The route will be floured so no need to worry about finding your way. First off at 11.00 am, everybody else at intervals thereafter, with the aim 😊 that everyone finishes at the same time.

Race 10 of the Eric Smith handicap trophy is the Colin Best Calverley Handicap, which starts at the Owl bridge (swing) on the Leeds Liverpool canal, near the Railway Inn.  Parking is available either near the pub and off Apperley lane.  Route map,  marked with a blue line here. The route will be floured so no need to worry about finding your way First off at 11.00 am, everybody else at intervals thereafter.

RUNNER OF THE YEAR TRACK & SEPTEMBER HANDICAP – 3000M

WHEN: Tuesday September 21, 2021 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm WHERE: University Academy Keighley September’s Eric Smith Handicap Trophy race, combined with the 2nd Runner of the Year Track race.  This is run as a normal handicap, 7 and a half laps of the track. Tuesday 31st August – Eric Smith Trophy Race 8 – Fewston Handicap

August’s handicap is a clockwise lap of Fewston reservoir on Tuesday 31st August.  The first runner(s) will set off at 7pm, everybody else at intervals in the following 20-30 minutes. If you’re unable to make it on the night there is a virtual option which will run from Monday 23rd to the 31st,  just let me know how long it took you by email at androbertshaw@gmail.com.

After a 15 year break Nick offered to find a route through the forest and fields of Stainburn Moor.  The start and finish is at the Stainburn forest car park on the road linking Beckwithshaw to Norwood,  google maps link here.
