Report from the Hon/ handicapper.

A perfect summer evening for the popular local relay brilliantly organised by Horsforth Fellandale. The head of the race was full of fast young runners, but surprisingly there were no junior teams taking part.

It was a fairly close run thing between our first two teams, until the last leg when Tom ran away from the hon. handicapper to finish 15th, 4 places ahead of the Vets team.

Matt Clegg’s team with Lee and Rogan finished in 60th, the older vets team of Colin, Tony and Carl finished 73rd and the ladies team of Megan, Liz and Katie finished 80th. Graham recorded Otley’s fastest time on the first leg.

There was a great atmosphere at the change-over point and lots of competitive spirit shown in the finishing straight. I’ve always thought that a relay and the team events like the Harrogate League are by far the best races to do. See photo’s from the night courtesy of Scott Leach and Steve Davey.
